1Product Safety

The safety of children is at the heart of everything we do.

Our products are designed and manufactured to meet applicable toy safety requirements for the markets in which they are sold.

Please read and follow the safety recommendations below.

Age Recommendations

Each product listing clearly states the recommended minimum age for that product.

Some Stellavan & Papa products are suitable for children aged 18 months and over, while others are recommended for children aged 3 years and over.

Please always follow the age recommendation displayed on the product packaging and product page.

Adult Supervision

Adult supervision is recommended during play, particularly for younger children.

Children should always use toys in a safe environment appropriate for their age and stage of development.

Inspect Before Use

Before each use, we recommend checking your product for signs of damage, including:

  • cracks or splits;
  • loose pieces;
  • broken components; or
  • excessive wear.

If a product becomes damaged, discontinue use immediately and contact us if you believe the issue may be covered under our warranty.

Indoor Use

Our products are designed primarily for indoor use.

Extended exposure to rain, excessive moisture, direct sunlight or extreme temperatures may affect the appearance and performance of natural timber.

2Safety Standards and Materials

We are committed to producing high-quality products using carefully selected materials.

Where applicable, our products are manufactured to meet recognised toy safety requirements for the markets in which they are sold.

Our products may include:

  • FSC-certified beech timber;
  • child-safe, non-toxic finishes;
  • EN71 compliance;
  • ASTM compliance;
  • UKCA requirements; and
  • other applicable safety standards where required.

Specific certifications may vary between products and destination markets. Please refer to individual product packaging or contact us if you have any questions regarding a particular product.

3Natural Timber Characteristics

Every Stellavan & Papa product is made using genuine timber.

Unlike plastic or synthetic materials, natural wood has its own unique character.

As a result, you may notice:

  • variations in timber grain;
  • differences in colour;
  • small natural knots;
  • subtle texture variations;
  • slight differences in painted finishes; or
  • minor variations between individual puzzle pieces.

These characteristics are a natural feature of genuine wood and are not considered manufacturing defects.

We believe these unique variations are part of the beauty of handcrafted wooden products.

4Caring for Your Product

With proper care, your Stellavan & Papa product can be enjoyed for many years. We recommend:

Cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  • Dry immediately after cleaning.
  • Do not soak in water.
  • Do not place in a dishwasher.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning products.

Storage

Store your product:

  • indoors;
  • in a cool, dry location;
  • away from prolonged direct sunlight;
  • away from excessive humidity; and
  • away from heat sources such as heaters or fireplaces.

General Care

To help preserve the appearance of your wooden product:

  • avoid dropping or throwing the product;
  • avoid prolonged exposure to moisture;
  • avoid leaving products outdoors;
  • supervise younger children during play; and
  • inspect products regularly for signs of wear.

5Our 12-Month Quality Warranty

We proudly stand behind the quality of our products.

In addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law, Stellavan & Papa provides a voluntary 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

If a manufacturing defect becomes apparent within 12 months of purchase, we will, at our discretion:

  • repair the product;
  • replace the product;
  • replace missing components where appropriate; or
  • provide a refund where repair or replacement is not reasonably available.

To assess a warranty claim, we may request:

  • proof of purchase;
  • your order number (where available);
  • clear photographs of the product;
  • photographs of the packaging (where relevant);
  • a short video demonstrating the issue where appropriate; and
  • a brief description of the problem.

Every claim is individually assessed.

Providing photographs or videos does not automatically entitle a customer to a repair, replacement or refund. We will determine the appropriate remedy after reviewing the available information and, where necessary, inspecting the returned product.

Our voluntary warranty does not cover:

  • accidental damage;
  • misuse;
  • improper storage;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • modifications or unauthorised repairs;
  • damage caused by failure to follow care instructions; or
  • natural timber characteristics described in this guide.

6Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing on this page excludes, restricts or modifies any rights available under Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer protection legislation.

7Frequently Asked Questions

Is every puzzle exactly the same?

No. Because every product is made from genuine timber, each puzzle will have its own unique grain, colour and natural character.

Are the paints safe?

Yes. We use child-safe, non-toxic finishes that comply with applicable safety requirements for the markets in which our products are sold.

Can I wash my puzzle?

No. We recommend wiping with a soft, slightly damp cloth and drying immediately. Wooden products should never be submerged in water or placed in a dishwasher.

Can I use the puzzle outdoors?

Our products are intended for indoor use. Prolonged exposure to sunlight, rain or excessive moisture may affect the timber and finish.

What should I do if my product arrives damaged?

Please contact us as soon as possible with your proof of purchase and clear photographs of the issue. We'll assess your claim and work with you to find an appropriate solution.

What if I lose a puzzle piece?

Please contact us. While replacement pieces may not always be available, we'll always do our best to help where possible.
